About The Event

On March 14, 2023, DIPPER Lab participated in the RAIL RAIN Conference 2023 to present their innovative use of AI and machine learning techniques in automating food transportation along the supply chain. During the conference, Andrews Tang, the speaker from DIPPER Lab, presented on their research on using applied AI to detect tomato anomalies and perishability during transportation, especially on low-powered computing devices. DIPPER Lab has been conducting groundbreaking research on tracking food from the farm to the consumer using the Hyperledger Fabric blockchain platform. Their platform, called "DOTbox," allows for data changes in the food supply chain. In the presentation, Tang also highlighted the use of SmaTo, a tomato sensor that logs data about the external stress on the tomato fruit during transportation or distribution. By combining the data from the DOTbox platform and the SmaTo sensor, an AI model is trained and validated to predict the safety of the transported food for consumption by users. The main objective of this project is to ensure the safety of the food supply chain for users. By leveraging the power of AI and blockchain technology, DIPPER Lab's research will help to enhance the safety and security of the food supply chain for consumers.
