About The Event

In line with the strategic vision of creating strong collaborations with Institutions and Research Centres in Europe, a Team at the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering visited Istinye university in Turkey to discuss areas of mutual collaboration. The objective of the visit was to delve into the realm of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its applications in Digital Healthcare, with a particular emphasis on establishing a Centre of Excellence for Digital Health in Africa. The integration of AI in digital health holds the promise of significantly improving patient outcomes, reducing healthcare costs, and increasing access to treatment for marginalized communities. These research areas are key to the strategic mission of the DIPPER Lab. During the course of the event, Prof. Abdul-Rahman Ahmed, Dean of the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), engaged in a productive dialogue with the Rector of Istinye University. The discussions centered around the readiness of Faculty to embark on a journey toward digital health and the potential for collaboration between the two institutions. Other members of the travel team included Dr. Eric Tutu Tchao (Scientific Director - DIPPER Lab), Dr. Henry Nunoo-Mensah (Head-Innovation and Commercialization - DIPPER Lab), and Mrs. Christiana Selorm Aggor (Lab Administrator - DIPPER Lab). The team also had the opportunity to visit the Internet of Things (IoT) laboratory at Istinye University. The visit provided first-hand exposure to the cutting-edge technology being developed at the university and further strengthened the possibility for future collaboration. This collaboration represents a concerted effort by professionals from multiple disciplines to address complex healthcare challenges and drive innovation in the industry.
