DIPPER Lab, GRAIN hold co-construction meeting on GEDI framework for SIWA under the ObaaSIWA project
DIPPER Lab has held its first co-construction stakeholder meeting with the Gender and Responsible Artificial Intelligence Network (GRAIN) to discuss the development of the Gender Equality and Digital Inclusion (GEDI) framework and the SIWA mobile application under the ObaaSIWA project implementation, which is funded under the EmpowerHerAI initiative.
The meeting is part of a collaboration between DIPPER Lab and GRAIN to develop digital tools that support gender equality and responsible artificial intelligence across Africa.
The engagement focused on gathering a holistic input to guide the development of the SIWA app, which is designed to capture the needs of marginalized communities, particularly women, and ensure digital systems are user-centred and fit for purpose.
The session was led by Prof. Joel Nwakaire together with Dioulli Kane as part of the co-construction process, which allowed the team to contribute to the design and development of the framework and digital platform.
The project team discussed how the application can help document the needs and experiences of underserved communities to inform inclusive digital solutions.
The Gender and Responsible Artificial Intelligence Network (GRAIN) is funded under the Artificial Intelligence for Development (AI4D).
The meeting also brought together key members of the project team including the Gender Lead, Dr. Elikplim Abui Tamakloe; Climate Change and Ecosystem Monitoring Lead, Dr. Enoch Bessah; the Scientific Director of DIPPER Lab, Prof. Eric Tutu Tchao; and the Deputy Scientific Director, Dr. Selasi Agbemenu.
The co-construction meeting emphasized the importance of collaborative design in developing technology solutions that respond to the realities of communities.
