DIPPER Lab Team Unwinds in Nairobi After AfriLabs Conference with a Taste of Wildlife and Culture
After days of innovation talks and tech showcases at the AfriLabs 10th Anniversary Conference in Nairobi, the DIPPER Lab team decided to take a well-earned break and what better way to wind down than by experiencing Kenya’s famous wildlife and vibrant culture?
The team’s first adventure took them straight to Nairobi National Park, one of the few places in the world where lions, giraffes, and zebras roam just outside a capital city.
For a group used to working on edge-computing systems and smart agriculture tools, the chance to see real-life animal intelligence in the wild was both refreshing and unforgettable.
There was excitement all around as the team spotted rhinos lounging in the sun, zebras and giraffes crossing the trail, hippopotamuses and crocodiles enjoying a bath together, much to everyone’s amazement.
They also caught glimpses of vultures circling overhead, monkeys swinging through the trees, and plenty of other animals that made them feel like they were walking through a live nature documentary.
After the thrill of the wild, the team made a stop at the popular Maasai Market Collections, where they were greeted with a burst of colour, music, and handcrafted beauty.
From bold kitenge prints to intricate beadwork, the market offered a different kind of creativity one rooted in tradition, culture, and community.
The short trip was more than just sightseeing.
It was a chance for the DIPPER Lab team to reflect, recharge, and reconnect with the bigger picture of their work, especially as they gear up for the official launch of FarmSense on October 20, 2025, at KNUST in Ghana.
Asante Kenya, you’ve truly shown us the beauty of innovation, nature, and culture in one unforgettable trip.
