
DIPPER Lab, CHAG Explore Data-Driven Innovations to Transform Child Health in Ghana
The DIPPER Lab at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, (KNUST) has engaged the Christian Health Association of Ghana (CHAG), to explore strategies for improving healthcare innovations through better access to data and real-world deployment.
The engagement, held in Accra, focused on ongoing projects at DIPPER Lab funded by the British Council.
The lab showcased several innovations in child health and digital healthcare, emphasizing solutions that can be scaled to benefit communities across Ghana.
The Deputy Executive Director of the Christian Health Association of Ghana (CHAG), Dr. James Duah expressed admiration for the lab’s practical innovations and highlighted the potential for CHAG’s network of health facilities to support piloting and deployment.
The DIPPER Lab delegation, led by Scientific Director Prof. Eric Tutu Tchao, included Dr. Prince Odame, Child Health and Innovation Lead, and Dr. Adoma Odame, Deputy Lead for Child Health Innovation.
Dr. Prince Odame, Child Health and Innovation Lead, presented some of the lab’s innovations to the director, explaining their role in child health.
They also discussed how data access, joint testing, and institutional partnerships can accelerate the translation of research into impactful health solutions.
Prof. Tutu Tchao emphasized the importance of strategic collaboration to ensure innovations move from the laboratory to healthcare settings, making tangible differences in communities.
The meeting is expected to culminate in a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between DIPPER Lab and CHAG to guide future collaborations on research, innovation deployment, and health system strengthening.
With these initiatives, DIPPER Lab continues to position itself as a hub of innovation in Ghana, leveraging international partnerships to transform healthcare delivery and improve child health outcomes.
